So In my last post, I spilled the beans about what was going on in my life. First I want to thank everyone for their heartfelt and caring responses. I was unsure how revealing that I was suffering from depression would be received. Whether it would bring stigma or understanding. And I believe the verdict is in that it has brought understanding. Again, thanks to all you have reached out to me with encouragement and empathy. It is very much appreciated.
So WORK has been coming along. I'm not exactly up to your 40-hour work week yet, but some fairly significant tasks have been completed. The first thing I did was clean and prepare my work area. I started there because I realized that's where I would start if I had begun a new office job. Seemed logical enough.
Secondly I have finally put Jeremy Center Photography to bed. The final nail in the coffin was changing the name on the bank account. Studio Ogalthorpe is name of my business and now all the legal documents (licenses, bank accounts, etc.) now reflect that.
Third, I have begun filtering images that will go into my portfolio. It's not an easy task, but is slowly getting done.
And last, I have been tossing around the idea of doing lighting workshops of various nature. I have been troubled as to what the material would be and how I would go about teaching it. Well, I've had some breakthroughs in that area and now I have a loose framework on which to build. I'm particularly proud of that.
Personally, I am feeling pretty good. I have gained some skills that have helped me deal with some negative thought patterns. This has helped me establish a newfound confidence. I now engage in activities that I haven't in some time, and also looking out for new things to do.
All in all I think the state of me is good and getting better.

Excellent start, keep at it.
Jeremy - We all hope you get better. Depression can be bitch. You almost have to learn how to consciously ignore it. But I'm sure you'll figure it out.
RE: Lighting workshops
I think that would be a great idea. So far, I like the format of Bill Seymour's class over at Glazer's. His class focuses on putting all the nuts / bolts together for different lighting systems. He deliberately does not coach people on where to put the lights. His philosophy is one that encourages people to experiment. I found it well worth the money.
Hope you get better and kick some derriere. I'm sure we're all rooting for you.
Keep up the good work, Jeremy!

A school that I respect up here in Vancouver has a format where their courses go 10-5 or so... theory in the morning from about 10-noon, lunch, then models come in from 1-5pm for practice shooting. I found it works well for a one day workshop format.
Personally, I'm glad to hear your coming out the other side of the tunnel. It's all baby steps my friend.... just keep going!
Cheers,
Ian
