This afternoon I was having lunch with a fellow photographer. It was a beautiful spring-like day here in Seattle and we were dining at a restaurant overlooking the north end of Lake Union. We were talking about various aspects of our struggle to figure out and make it in the photographic business.I think I was lost in a bit of thought somewhere on the crests of the wind-stirred wave as I stared out the bay windows.
Then it hit me.
This was great! I was talking to someone about what he's doing to figure out how to grow his business. He's asking me what kind of photographer I want to be. I shared with him some influences of mine and some social networking information I had received from Photoshelter. He was giving me feedback on my Lighting 101 demonstration and my plans for lighting workshops.
There are a couple other photographers I've been talking to in this manner. I think getting together with your peers can really lead to some positive moves. You never know what you're going to learn.
What l learned was that I have a posse.
Do you?

Great post! I can say whole-heartedly that my my posse has helped me and inspired me in my photographic journey.
The posse is definitely a great resource to not be overlooked.
Thanks for this!
A support network like this is one of the most powerful tools a person can have. College is all about forcing yourself in to one such network, albeit with formalized courses to provide some structure. Most everyone i know gained more from their school experiences by being around people that shared their interests and aspirations than they did from the individual courses.
hell yeah, I ride with the ogalthorpe posse.
Posse up!
I don't have one friend IRL that is even "into" photography.
